Creative Movement ( 3-4 yrs)

Creative Movement classes are designed for 3-4 year old preschoolers as an introduction to dance and music. Overall emphasis is on enjoyment while learning coordination, balance, rhythm, musical counting, self-confidence, muscle isolation and development, taking turns and following directions. Students will be exposed to multiple movements and musical styles. This class incorporates the use of props such as balls, scarves, balance beams, and lots of imagination

Tap (5+yrs)

Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style, and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. Our tap dancers learn to use their ballet class to assist their upper bodies with tap movements so the upper body is not lost while tap dancing. Dancers learn musicality and understand they are playing an instrument with their feet. Tap dancers learn how to perform and entertain audiences.

Ballet (7+yrs)

Ballet training is the foundation of our dance school.  All dancers are required to take ballet if taking jazz, modern, and/or contemporary dance styles (however, it is also recommended and encouraged for tap dancers as well).  Our ballet classes consist of traditional ballet technique influenced by the Cecchetti, French, and Vaganova schools. Dancers will learn proper alignment, strength, grace, and to tell stories through dance. Ballet classes will assist dancers with posture, flexibility, fitness, balance, self-discipline, and self-confidence.

Pointe (12+ yrs)

All pointe classes are designed for students with previous ballet training and have been selected by their ballet instructor to begin pointe training.  Students will utilize previously learned ballet technique while working en pointe. Each class includes feet and ankle exercises, barre and center floor work, and across the floor combinations. These exercises focus on strengthening the feet and ankles, and the proper alignment of the body and technique. Dancers will learn and perform classical and contemporary variations suited to their individual levels.

Adult Classes

These classes are designed for non-experienced or experienced adult dancers.  Please contact The Studio to obtain current adult class schedule.

Jazz (9+ yrs)

Jazz classes will focus on learning traditional technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality, and developing complex rhythms and patterns. Jazz classes will increase strength and flexibility and help dancers learn to attack movements with more power - strength, conditioning, and stretching are a main focus of our jazz classes. Students will be exposed to various styles of choreography such as Broadway, Street and Contemporary styles to help develop a well-rounded and strong dancer.

Modern / Contemporary ( 12+ yrs)

These classes blend elements of Contemporary and Modern dance, such as freedom of expression, interpretation of music, principles of fall and recovery, control, breathing, balance and contraction/release. Teachers incorporate a varied blend of contemporary and post-modern movement into their classes. Modern and Contemporary Dance forms allow students to explore their individual dance style outside of the structure of traditional ballet and jazz classes, as well as, allow dancers creative movement and an introduction to choreography techniques. Classes also incorporate improvisation exercises, partnering/lifting, and creative expression.
