Cara Agustin,

Owner, Artistic Director, & Instructor

Cara Agustin began her dance training with Sue Brumet at the age of 7 studying ballet, jazz, and tap dance styles, as well as danced with a performing arts group in Amador County called Kids on Stage. To further excel in ballet she took ongoing private lessons from Shelia Darby for 3 years. She later went on to dance with the Margaret Phares Theater Ballet in Sacramento specializing in classical ballet training and performing leads in numerous productions including the Nutcracker, Red Riding Hood, and Coppelia. Cara has also had extensive training at numerous summer intensive programs throughout the country and abroad, including the University of Victoria Canada, Dance Aspen Colorado, the Bolshoi Ballet's summer intensive program, Santa Clara University summer intensive program, and at University of California, Davis, where she gained valuable technical training in ballet, modern, jazz, and contemporary dance, and also obtained her B.S. in Community and Regional Development.

Cara has been teaching jazz, ballet, and contemporary dance for the past 10 years, as well as choreographing numerous pieces, for the Sue Brumet Dance Factory, the Sierra Ballet School, and the Amador High School dance and drama departments. Cara opened her own dance studio in Martell, CA September 17, 2011 which is now in Sutter Creek, CA.

Sue Brumet,

Tap Instructor & KOS Board Member

Sue started her dance training with Pat Mason & Stanley Kahn (Mason & Kahn studio) in San Fransisco at the age of 5. Through the years she did many TV specials with the Kahn's and danced professionally with the Mason & Kahn dancers. From age 13 to 18, she performed with Youth of America, a musical show with an orchestra chorus and dancers. The show traveled across the U.S. & performed at the World's Fair in Canada "Expo 67." At 18, Sue started teaching and taught at many schools in the bay area and Sacramento. She then opened her own school (Sue Brumet's Dance Factory) in Amador County in 1983 and created and directed the performing arts group, Kids on Stage in 1984. From 1992 to 2004 Sue was also the head of the dance department at Amador High School. Today, Sue still shares her passion for dance and world class skills with the dancers at The Studio through her tap classes and service as Board Member of Kids on Stage.

Jen Wylie,

Creative Movement Instructor

Jen Wylie has a passion for children, dancing and bringing light into others lives. She believes that through laughter and play young children can be encouraged towards the discipline of dance. Jen is the mother of three children. She has volunteered with children throughout our Community for over 25 years.






Erica Jurickovich

Adult tap Instructor

Erica has started her dance training at the age of four with Sue Brumet's Dance Factory. She continued to study tap under Sue Brumet for the better part of the next 23 years. She started her teaching career with The Studio Performing Technique Dance School in 2017, teaching adult tap class. She has taken on additional classes since. She has had the privilege of taking private tap and ballet lessons alongside Sue, with Sam Weber at his studio in San Francisco. She began studying kolo, a Slavic dance, around the same young age of four and has had the opportunity to perform with a Serbian group named Aska Kolo Ansambl at many events including the Camellia Festival, Global Winter Wonderland, and a Sacramento Kings half-time show, along with various other performances with a Bulgarian group named Rosna Kitka. She has studied other forms of dance over much shorter time periods such as ballet, modern, jazz, and hip hop, and she loves continuing to broaden her knowledge of any and all forms of dance.

Amy Locke

Adult Ballet Instructor

Amy started dancing at the age of eight with Sue Brumet's Dance Factory in 1997, where she developed an appreciation for classical ballet. She pursued her training all throughout junior high and high school, where she took classes with Cara Agustin, who trained her further in advanced ballet and jazz. Her love of dance continued into her college career, where she took modern summer intensive and lead small independent ballet practices with her classmates in college. Her background in the arts have furthered her inspiration in intuitive ballet and modern movement and organic flow.

Kate Allen

Advanced jazz Instructor

Kate Allen started her dance training in Sutter Creek at Sue Brumet’s Dance Factory and with Kids On Stage. She went on to dance at UC Santa Cruz while earning her degree in Sociology and Community Studies. After graduating, she danced with Moving and Storage Dance Company, Pack the House Productions, and apprenticed with the Bay Area hip hop crew Funkanometry SF. She has been teaching dance and fitness throughout Amador and Calaveras counties since 2005. She is honored to still be dancing alongside Sue Brumet and Cara Agustin some thirty years after their first class together.
